Alan Ward
Alan spent 19 years in manufacturing with plastics company, LGG Charlesworth Ltd, an organisation recognised nationally for its approach to management style and culture. As Director of Quality & Business Development, Alan was responsible for introducing company-wide improvement initiatives, such as BS 5750 in 1986, NVQs in 1992, IIP in 1993 and Business Excellence in 1995. Alan has been the main host to over 100 benchmarking visits from a wide range of industry sectors focusing on the practical application of organisational improvement and people issues. He is an expert in quality management, benchmarking and business best practice. Seconded to the DTI’s Innovation Unit as a Senior Industrialist for eight years from 1998, he worked on the UK National Innovation and Best Practice agenda. Latterly he has collaborated with the Department for Education and Skills embedding Innovation and Enterprise skills in the national curriculum, where he co-developed an innovation tool kit that was launched to all secondary schools in England. He is a highly skilled facilitator and trainer.
Alan is married and is the proud father of five boys. He loves watching films, particularly science fiction and passionately believes that learning never ends. Alan has a broad love for all types of music, from Bowie to Nickleback.
